Mission Statement
UELS is committed to delivering a comprehensive development offering (including our upcoming Careers Series), fostering community through frequent socials, our new family scheme, and an expanding sports culture. We’ll maximise major event capacity, reduce ticket prices, and maintain clear and consistent member communication.
Environment
We promote an inclusive, engaging environment where students are empowered academically, professionally, and personally. From firm-led workshops and networking events to society sports and socials, UELS offers a wide range of opportunities for members to grow both within and beyond the legal sphere.
Careers
Our expanding careers offering is defined by our Careers Series: a structured programme covering application, commercial awareness, and firm insights in collaboration with our sponsor firms. Partnerships with leading law firms and chambers allow us to host high-profile events such as the Careers and Bar Dinners, which facilitate impactful student engagement with the legal sector.
Support
Through student-led study groups, input from our academic officers, and close collaboration with the Law School, we offer tailored events that directly respond to our members’ needs. We are equally committed to fostering a strong and welcoming student network through our social calendar, family scheme, and our Winter and Spring Balls.
Wellbeing Activities
We are expanding our wellbeing initiatives through our sports offering (football, netball, cricket, and run club), regular coffee mornings, and events run by our welfare officer. UELS is more than a society; it’s a community, a support system, and a platform for personal and professional growth.
